Sylvain Distin believes Portsmouth can cause an upset against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Pompey defender insists he and his team-mates will not be playing for a replay when they travel to Old Trafford in the cup quarter-finals.
Distin believes it would be dangerous for Portsmouth to play for a draw against United and the French centre-back insists his side have the quality to compete with the Red Devils.
"I'm not going there to avoid defeat," Distin told Portsmouth's official website. "I'm going there to win.
"If you go there to avoid defeat then mentally you're not ready. It's 11 against 11, it's one game and everything is possible.
"Every year in the FA Cup or the Carling Cup there's a result that everyone calls a miracle but it's not.
"It's just a case of a side considered the underdogs thinking, 'we're going to win' and then fighting from the first second. That's what we have to do."
Portsmouth have crashed to seven defeats at Old Trafford in the last six years, but Distin is hoping for a different outcome at the weekend.
"It's a cup game, which is completely different. It's one game and you have to give everything in that game," added Distin.
"If we're all ready physically and mentally and we keep the shape we have enough quality to battle against them. I don't think they're a team we can't beat."
