Pompey front man set to face former club

David Nugent could be ready for a starting place on Sunday as Portsmouth prepare to face Preston in the FA Cup fifth round at Deepdale. Nugent will be hoping to fire his season back on track at his former club, and with Jermaine Defoe cup-tied, Pompey boss Harry Redknapp may turn to the 22-year-old to lead the attack just 17 days after a hernia operation. The former Preston man has been instrumental in Pompey's run to the fifth round, and despite the availability of Milan Baros and Kanu returning from the Africa Cup of Nations - Nugent could be the preferred option. Nugent also enjoyed a good run in Portsmouth's Carling Cup campaign, scoring against both Leeds and Burnley. Redknapp said: "He's getting fit and we are without Defoe on Sunday. So we'll see how we go."
