Manchester City's Gelson Fernandes hopes the club are able to sign Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari.
The Zimbabwe striker missed out on a transfer deadline day switch to City, although the Premier League are looking at the paperwork in the deal.
Gelson remains in the dark on whether Benjani will be joining, although he is crossing his fingers that the Auxerre ace is given the green light to link up with Sven-Goran Eriksson's team.
"I don't know if the deal is going ahead," he said on Sky Sports News.
"It would be very good because he's a great player. He's scored some important goals for Portsmouth.
"He could give us a lot of opportunities because he's quick and he scores goals.
"Of course it's important for us to have good strikers, but we've got good strikers now in the team.
"I think it's important to have a lot of quality."
