David James feels that Portsmouth have nothing to fear as they prepare to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Pompey have seen their bid for a Uefa Cup spot falter of late after picking up just two wins in their last seven Premier League games, but a place in the top six remains a realistic target.

If Harry Redknapp's side do go on to secure European football for next season then it is their form away from Fratton Park which is likely to be the main contributor.

Only title-chasing Chelsea have won more games on the road than Pompey's seven, and goalkeeper James feels that the confidence the team can take from such an impressive run of results means that they will fancy their chances of taking something from the midweek fixture at United.

Achievable

"We feel comfortable away from home in most games and there's no reason why we shouldn't show that at United," the England international said in the Daily Star.

"Having won there before I know this is something that can be achieved.

"And of course Harry Redknapp has won there as a manager.

"Away sides winning at Old Trafford doesn't often happen but it does from time to time.

Superstars

"If I had to have money on who will win the title, I would say United.

"They have the best manager in Premier League history and it seems as if every time they lose a superstar, they just go and replace him with another superstar. It keeps on rolling."

The arrival of striker Milan Baros on loan from Lyon will have come as a welcome relief to boss Redknapp ahead of the trip to Old Trafford after he learned on Monday that David Nugent requires a hernia operation which will see him sidelined for several weeks.
