Paris Saint Germain have pulled out of the race to sign Lyon striker Fred.
The capital outfit confirmed that they were no longer looking to take the Brazilian after talks failed to materialise.
PSG have seemingly become sick of waiting for a reply from Fred, after they agreed terms with Lyon for the striker.
Now, in a statement, the club have stated they will not be pursuing the player - which seemingly leaves the door open for a move to England, with Tottenham favourites to land him ahead of Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.
No deal
"Following negotiations with Olympique Lyonnais regarding player Fred, PSG have not received a written reply to their offer before the evening of Wednesday 16th January, as was asked for by our directors," said the statement.
"Fred did not want to meet PSG directors despite the offer proposed to his representatives.
"His lack of motivation and the priority that he seems to give to the financial aspect of his contract make us rule out the desire to see him joining our club."
It now remains to be seen whether Fred seals a move to England. He agent and brother admitted earlier this week that he would accept a deal with Tottenham, if it was good enough.
