Cameroon coach Otto Pfister will hold talks with Lauren about resuming his international career.

Player sought after by national team

Cameroon coach Otto Pfister will travel to Britain this week to hold talks with Portsmouth defender Lauren about resuming his international career. Lauren has not played for Cameroon since the 2002 World Cup finals but Pfister hopes to persuade the 30-year-old out of retirement for next month's African Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana. "I want to make contact and to get him to play," said Pfister, who was appointed the coach in October.

Career

Cameroon offered Lauren an international career before the 1998 World Cup finals. He has earned 24 caps and won two Cup of Nations titles with the side in 2000 and 2002. The African Cup of Nations finals start on 20th January with Cameroon drawn in Group C with holders Egypt, Sudan and Zambia.
