Harry Redknapp admits his chances of bringing Yakubu Aiyegbeni to Portsmouth are receding.
Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to sign the Middlesbrough forward but there are several other clubs interested.
The Portsmouth boss is looking to add another striker to his ranks before the end of the month and rumours suggest he is now considering a swoop for Bolton's Nicolas Anelka.
"I'd like to get another front man if I can get one," Redknapp told the Portsmouth News.
"But it would have to be someone good because we have some decent strikers already.
"Yakubu is the sort of striker I'm looking for but I'm told West Ham and Everton are in for him.
"I know Yakubu and I know he's all right for me. He has his good days and bad days but when he's at it he'll score goals for you.
'But £10million for him is a lot of dough."
Redknapp is still undecided whether to go for Real Mallorca winger Jonas Gutierrez.
He said: "I quite like the Argentinean, but I'm not sure."
