Harry Redknapp believes that Portsmouth are finished for the January transfer window after cooling their interest in Nigerian international Chinedu Ogbuke.
The highly-rated Lyn Oslo star has been training at Fratton Park and despite impressing Redknapp is unlikely to seal a move to England.
The striker, nicknamed 'Edu', is likely to require a work permit due to his lack of international experience and with the transfer window closing on Wednesday night, the Pompey boss believes time has run out to strike a deal.
However the Fratton Park boss will continue to monitor the progress of the player who has reportedly attracted the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months.
"We would probably have to go to appeal to get the permit and it could take weeks because he only has a few caps," said Redknapp.
"I would be interested in taking him in the future unless (Lyn) ask for silly money because he is sharp, quick and has a very good strike rate in Norway.
"But it is getting late now and although we have had a good look around, I don't think we will do anything more in the transfer window."
Ogbuke has also spent time training at Wigan in January after a prospective transfer to Spartak Moscow fell through following a change in the Russian club's management.
