A striker could be on Wigan's Christmas wish list, with manager Paul Jewell hinting Svetoslav Todorov is likely to head back to Portsmouth in January.
The Bulgarian moved to The JJB on a four-month loan deal at the end of August, but his progress has been hit by a lingering injury problem.
Todorov's last appearance for Wigan came in October and Jewell does not feel there will be an extension to his stay in the North West.
"At this moment it is not looking too promising," said Jewell.
"He just hasn't got going. He has been injured since he has been here, which is a pity for him and us."
The Latics are well placed in 11th in the Premiership and Jewell said recently that he is likely to be fairly circumspect in the January transfer window.
