Portsmouth's transfer deadline day loan signing Rodolph Douala is looking to make the most of his Premiership move.
The Cameroon international striker joined the South Coast side on Thursday for a loan fee believed to be é¼1 million (£650,000).
Douala was keen to leave Lisbon after being relegated to the substitutes' bench in Portugal and is now looking forward to his new challenge.
"This was the best option for me," explained Douala. "I'm not a bench player and (coach) Paulo Bento had no confidence in me.
"To only play the last few minutes of a match is lethal for a player. Mentally I have been affected recently.
"To come to England is very important because the league is one of the best in the world and my objective is to fight for my place in the starting XI.
"It's not easy to succeed in the Premiership League, but I'm here to give my best. It's a great opportunity and I do not want to waste my chance."
