Sidney Govou has ended speculation about his future by agreeing to stay with Lyon.
The France international had been linked with a host of clubs across Europe, with Real Betis, Valencia, Portsmouth and Villa all mooted as strong suitors.
Govou has been with the French champions since 1997 but it had looked as though he would seek pastures new this season and take a break from French football.
The 27-year-old striker has proven an accomplished performer for Lyon in the past few seasons and having won 23 caps for France, also has international pedigree.
Lyon have confirmed that Govou will put pen-to-paper on a deal that will keep him at the club until 2008, once he returns from international duties at the weekend and in midweek.
"The details of the agreement will be announced when Sidney rejoins the club after France's Euro 2008 qualifying games against Georgia and Italy," read a club statement.
