Chilean international Luis Jimenez claims Portsmouth are chasing his signature.
Jimenez is looking for a new club after deciding to quit Italian outfit Ternana.
Ternana suffered relegation to Serie C last season and Jimenez is keen to move on to play at a higher level.
Jimenez spent the last six months of last season on loan at Fiorentina and he impressed during his time at the Viola.
Arsenal had been linked with the midfielder in the past and Portsmouth face competition from several sides for Jimenez.
"Internazionale, Lazio, Atletico Madrid, Osasuna, Monaco and Portsmouth are all interested in me," claimed Jimenez.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has been frustrated in his attempts to bolster his squad so far this summer and may turn his attentions towards Jimenez after missing out on several other targets.
