Portsmouth have confirmed their interest in PSV Eindhoven star Jefferson Farfan, with chairman Milan Mandaric promising some big-name arrivals at Fratton Park.

Pompey are flush with cash and manager Harry Redknapp has scoured the world in an effort to compile a list of targets.

Reports in the Dutch media had suggested Farfan was top of Pompey's wish list and the South Coast club's interest has been confirmed by Mandaric.

"Nothing is certain yet, but Jefferson is a good player and we are looking to improve our squad," Mandaric told the Daily Mirror.

"We plan to make several signings in the next few weeks after the World Cup has finished."

Farfan is contracted to PSV until the summer of 2010 and his exploits in front of goal last term prompted the club to slap a £10 million price tag on his head.

This fee is within Pompey's grasp and contact could well be made in the next few days.
