Benfica have rejected talk that has suggested Nuno Gomes could be heading for The Premiership.
The Portugal international enjoyed an excellent campaign last term and his goalscoring exploits are reportedly attracting interest from elsewhere across Europe.
Reports in the player's homeland are linking the striker with an exit, as West Ham, Tottenham and Portsmouth - along with Marseille - have all been mooted as possible suitors.
Benfica's director general Jose Veiga has since denied that this is indeed the scenario, claiming that the club have yet to field any calls about the player and that it would take an astronomical bid for his sale to be sanctioned.
''Until this moment we have not received any propositions for Nuno,'' he said.
''He is a key player for our project for the next campaign and only a spectacular offer would change our decision about this subject.
''It is normal that clubs want the striker but today he is not in the market.''
