Boston have signed James Keene amidst rumours Julian Joachim is leaving the club.
Boston United have completed the signing of Portsmouth striker James Keene.
The 20-year-old will spearhead an on-loan strikeforce at York Street as he lines up alongside fellow Premiership youngster Peter Till, who has joined from Birmingham City on a one-month loan deal along with Portsmouth's Gary Silk.
With Noel Whelan currently sidelined, Steve Evans has moved to bolster his forward line and his focus on front men has fuelled speculation that Julian Joachim could be on his way out of York Street.
But Pilgrims director of football Jim Rodwell was quick to rubbish the reports, telling skysports.com: "Julian's a great lad and he's quite happy here at Boston. He's a local lad and there's no way we want to sell him."
The former Aston Villa star had been tipped for a return to Walsall, who were reportedly preparing a £50,000 swoop.
"We'd turn it down," Rodwell added. "Obviously every player has his price at this level, but as far as we're concerned Julian is not for sale."
The Saddlers recently lost the services of leading scorer Matty Fryatt and it is thought that manager Paul Merson was eyeing Joachim as a short-term replacement.
Merson is now expected to switch his sights to wantaway Sheffield Wednesday striker Lee Peacock.
