Michael Tonge says he has no plans to head out of Sheffield United for Portsmouth.

The midfielder has won many admirers since bursting onto the scene at Bramall Lane in the 2001/2002 season.

The 22-year-old is key to Blades manager Neil Warnock's plans, but the Yorkshire club were put on alert recently when it emerged that Tonge had caught the eye of Pompey chief Alain Perrin.

Tonge says he is flattered to be linked with a move to Fratton Park, but has no intention of leaving The Blades.

"It's flattering that Portsmouth are interested in me," said Tonge. "I suppose it means I have been doing something right this season.

"However my heart lies here. I want to play at the highest level but I want to do it with Sheffield United."
