Portsmouth have completed a double swoop ahead of their FA Cup fourth round tie with local rivals Southampton.

Konstantinos Chalkias and Giannis Skopelitis have sealed moves to Fratton Park and both will be in the squad to tackle Saints at Saturday lunchtime if their international clearance is received in time.

Chalkias is a 31-year-old keeper from Panathinaikos who will push Shaka Hislop and Jamie Ashdown for a first team spot.

Midfielder Skopelitis is viewed as a direct replacement for Amdy Faye, who has departed for Newcastle United, after agreeing a £1 million transfer from Egaleo.

"We may not have finished yet and are still looking to possibly bring in two more players with one of them an offensive midfield man," Pompey supremo Milan Mandaric told the club's official website.

"The players we have announced today are proven and experienced.

"Konstantinos is a giant of a goalkeeper regarded as one of the top in Greek football and, in my book, you can never have enough class keepers.

"Skopelitis is a solid defensive midfield man who fills the hole left by Amdy Faye very nicely.

"I hope this will put to rest the notion that has grown recently that we have suddenly become a selling club."

Pompey have yet to tie up the signing of Dmitri Bulykin due to red tape but they are still keen to recruit the Russia international.
