Royston Drenthe has left Sky Bet Championship club Reading and signed for Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor.

The Netherlands winger joined the Royals in 2013 and made 24 appearances, but was sent out on loan to divisional rivals Sheffield Wednesday this season.

He scored one goal for the Owls, but only seven of his 15 outings for them were starts, the last coming in their win over Blackpool on Boxing Day.

Manager Steve Clarke said, "Royston Drenthe is, without doubt, a talented player but sometimes, in football, transfers don’t deliver what they promise.

"That’s been the case for Royston at Reading FC so it’s best for both parties that he moves on and we wish him well for the future."
