Brian McDermott has called on Reading supporters to make the Madejski Stadium a fortress - starting on Boxing Day.
The club's home fans have witnessed just one league win this season - one more than the long-suffering away contingent.
But ahead of Swansea's visit McDermott has pleaded with supporters to stick with a side who go into the Christmas programme bottom of the table.
He said: "We need our fans massively to be with us. They took so much credit from last year, dragging us over the line. We need them to be with us again."
"We are looking forward to a full house at the Madejski Stadium on Boxing Day."
There were positive signs for Reading at Manchester City on Saturday, where only a late, contentious Gareth Barry goal denied them a point.
McDermott said: "It is hard at the moment, sat here after losing a goal at Man City, late like that. It really is difficult and it is tough to take but you have to.
"One thing I have found out about myself in the last three years is I am resilient person and you have to be in this job."
