New Hull City man wants international chance

Hull City new boy Stephen Quinn wants to break into the Republic of Ireland squad. The midfielder, a deadline-day signing from Sheffield United, is hoping his performances for City can catch the eye of Republic boss Giovanni Trapattoni. He made an encouraging start with a debut goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Bolton. "I've very much got that ambition," Quinn told Hull's official website. "After the game last Saturday, I saw Paul McShane heading off to join up with the Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers. It's been my lifelong ambition to be a part of that and play for my country. "I've got a lot of caps at Under-21 level, so hopefully I can make that step up to senior international level because that is something that has eluded me so far. "If I can perform to the best of my ability, hopefully the call will come at some time. I think sometimes you need to be at the top end of the Championship for that to happen."
