Sky Sports understands that Reading are poised to sign former Manchester City goalkeeper Stuart Taylor.
As revealed by skysports.com last month, Taylor was training with Reading after leaving City at the end of last season.
Taylor has impressed during his stint with the Royals and Brian McDermott is keen to add him to his squad.
The 31-year-old made just one appearance for City during his three-year stay at the club, finding himself playing back-up to Joe Hart.
Taylor is expected to sign a one-year deal at the Madejski Stadium as their latest signing ahead of the new season.
The former Arsenal and Aston Villa keeper will provide cover for Royals No.1 Adam Federici.
