Wilson wants Rovers frontman to spearhead promotion push

Sky Sports understands that Sheffield United are lining up a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Nick Blackman. The 22-year-old has spent the last three years on the books at Ewood Park, with Rovers having lured him away from Macclesfield Town in January 2009. He is highly-rated in Football League circles, but has been deemed surplus to requirements by Steve Kean. Blackburn have bolstered their attacking ranks during the summer transfer window, forcing Blackman further down the pecking order. He still has one year left on his Rovers contract, but could be persuaded to move on. The youngster has spent much of his time at Ewood out on loan, with spells taken in at Blackpool, Oldham Athletic, Motherwell and Aberdeen. Sheffield United are prepared to offer him another route out of the club, with Danny Wilson looking for Blackman to spearhead the Blades' League One promotion push in 2012/13.
