Reading close on Nottm Forest full-back after reaching agreement
Sky Sports has learnt Reading have agreed a fee with Nottingham Forest for defender Chris Gunter.
The Wales international has been a long-term target for the Royals, with the Premier League new boys having had a bid for the player rejected in May.
Reading re-engaged in negotiations with Forest on Monday and have now struck an accord for his signing.
Brian McDermott sees the full-back as a key signing as he bids to establish his side in the top flight following last term's promotion.
A number of other clubs are thought to be monitoring former Tottenham man Gunter's situation but it is Reading who have stolen a march on possible other suitors.
Gunter will have a medical later on Tuesday and, pending any complications, should be unveiled as a Reading player.
The player is thought to be keen on a switch to the Madejski, where he would be reunited with former Forest team-mate Garath McCleary.
