Reading midfielder looking to leave in January

Reading midfielder Brian Howard is hoping to secure a permanent move away from the club in January. Howard has fallen out of favour at the Madejski Stadium and is currently on loan at the Royals' Championship rivals Millwall. Reading have reportedly spoken to the Lions about making the switch permanent in the next transfer window. Howard is keen to help his career progress away from Berkshire and has spoken to Royals manager Brian McDermott. He told the Reading Post: "Sadly I feel my Reading career ended a long time ago. It's a shame, I wanted to stay and play but I wasn't getting a look-in and sometimes I wasn't even in the squad, let along the team. "By the time January comes I'm hoping something will be sorted. Brian McDermott was as good as gold to me when I left on loan to go to Millwall. "And he's always said to me that if the right club came in and I wanted to go then I could move on. "They're all honest people at Reading and I have no doubt that they will stick to their word."
