Reading have announced the signing of French striker Cedric Baseya until the end of the season, with the option of a one-year extension.
Baseya, 23, had been a free agent after being released by Ligue 1 champions Lille over the summer.
He had a loan spell with Le Havre last season and also has experience of English football, having spent time with Southampton and Crewe earlier in his career.
Royals manager Brian McDermott is delighted to have bolstered his attacking options with the signing of a player whose height will add a different dimension to their strikeforce.
McDermott told the club's official website: "We've known about him for quite a while now. He has played out in France and was at Southampton as a youngster.
"He's about 6ft 4in and he's good in the air so will win headers, he's aggressive, and he's still very young.
"So he's pleased to come here and it's a deal we're pleased to do. He'll come in and be part of the group of strikers we've got here and we'll see how he develops with us. I'm sure he'll do really well in the next year."
