Winger delighted to be staying at the Madejski Stadium

Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu has ended any doubts regarding his future by signing a new three-year contract at the Madejski Stadium. The 22-year-old featured in 35 games for the Royals, 15 of them starts, last season and scored six goals as his improvement was enough to earn international recognition with Wales. He was recently linked with a move to Championship rivals Portsmouth, but Robson-Kanu is delighted to have secured a new deal with Reading. "I'm delighted to be here," said Robson-Kanu. "Signing a new contract at a club is a sign that you are doing well and it is great to have been rewarded with a new deal. "I was in a position to listen to other clubs who were interested in me - and I was flattered by the interest. But I want to play for Brian McDermott. I'm staying for him. "What he's building here is something special and I want to be a massive part of it. I think this contract shows that I wll be, and I can't wait!" Director of football Nick Hammond added: "He was in excellent form, especially towards the end of last season, and he's going to play more and more first-team games now. "He'll be a very important player for us going forward."
