Academy midfielder Lawson D'Ath has been handed a professional deal to keep him at Reading until 2013.

The promising 18-year-old has hit an impressive 17 goals in his last 22 appearances for the Royals' Under-18s and reserve sides.

Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "We're delighted to have got this done, he is a very talented boy and, as his record shows, he scores goals from midfield."

Brian McDermott's side are currently seventh in the Championship ahead of Saturday's home game against Portsmouth.
