Reading striker Noel Hunt has dismissed calls for him to earn an international recall and insists he is focusing on his club career.

The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his present deal and is eager to display the type of form that will see his contract extended.

He has already started putting up a strong case as he played an instrumental role in Royals as he plundered a goal as Norwich came from behind to snatch a point.

His display generated calls for him to earn a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad, but Hunt maintains international football is not his priority right now.

Help

"I'm just trying to get back into this team and to help the boys along," he told the club's official website.

"If by doing that and helping my team-mates, it helps me get back into the international squad, I'll be delighted.

"But I just want to get things right here first. I've only got a little while left on my contract and I need to prove to these people here that I'm worth keeping."
