Yeovil Town have signed Reading's teenage goalkeeper Alex McCarthy on loan until the January transfer window.

McCarthy has yet to make his first-team debut for Reading, but made four appearances while on loan at Aldershot last season.

He has been training with Yeovil this week and featured in the pre-season friendly with Derby County on Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old has now earned a move to Huish Park with Glovers boss Terry Skiverton hoping McCarthy can fit the bill.

"He's got the longest kicking we've seen down here for a while," Skiverton told the club's official website. "He can absolutely boom it.

"I'm looking for a keeper who has a presence in goal, can kick it and can catch it."
