Defender moves to Vicarage Road to ease injury crisis

Watford have signed Sam Sodje on a month's loan from Championship rivals Reading. Sodje has not played a first-team game for Reading this season and has moved to Vicarage Road to ease Watford's injury problems. Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd is currently short of defensive options, with Jay DeMerit battling to be fit for Saturday's game with Sheffield United. If DeMerit fails to shake off a knock, then Sodje is expected to start the Championship fixture at Bramall Lane. The centre-half spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic and Alan Pardew had been keen to re-sign Sodje. However, he will now stay at Watford until 28th October after following Adam Federici out of Reading on a temporary basis, with the keeper having signed for Southend United.
