Charlton Athletic have rejected an offer from an unnamed club for Chinese midfielder Zheng Zhi.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew confirmed earlier in the week that a 'substantial' bid had been received for Zhi.
West Bromwich Albion have been linked with Zhi, but Pardew admits the offer did not meet Charlton's valuation.
"A club has tabled a bid for Zheng Zhi, but it's not to our valuation, so at the minute he's still a Charlton player," Pardew told the club's official website.
Pardew is looking to improve his own squad and remains keen on Reading defender Sam Sodje, who spent most of last season on loan at the Valley.
He added: "Sodje is a player I've kept in contact with, but I don't think Reading have made a decision on that.
"But Sam is on our radar and that's all I can say for now.
"There will be some movement before the transfer window shuts. I feel we do need two or three more players, but whether we can get those in at the rates that we want remains to be seen."
