Reading midfielder James Harper believes manager Steve Coppell has every right to threaten to wield the axe to his starting XI.
The Royals have slipped alarmingly down the Premier League table recently having lost their last eight consecutive league outings.
Coppell his hinted he could ring the changes in order to bring about a change of fortunes and Harper believes The Royals boss is correct in his assessment.
"The gaffer is talking about changes and you can't blame him because we have lost eight games," he told the Reading Evening Post.
"He could drop any one of us and play a completely different XI on Saturday.
"None of us would be able to go to him and say 'I should be playing' because of the run we've been on.
"It is a lottery as to who actually does stay in the team because everyone's name will be in the hat.
"I think there will be changes, but I don't think we've been in a comfort zone with no fear of being dropped."
