Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is eager to tie striker Clinton Morrison to a new deal.
Morrison's contract expires in the summer and Warnock has put all talks on hold to ensure Palace stay focused on their push for promotion.
Speculation has suggested that Reading are interested in Morrison and Warnock admits he is powerless to stop the 28-year-old from looking elsewhere.
But Warnock does not believe Reading have approached Morrison as yet and is optimistic of keeping the Republic of Ireland international at Selhurst Park.
"Clinton knows that if he wants a contract then there will be one waiting for him and over the next couple of months we will sit down and talk about it," he told the Croydon Advertiser.
"Because he is out of contract then Reading, if they're interested, would have contacted him and of course we could do nothing about that.
"But as far as I know there has been no contact between the two."
