Reading striker Leroy Lita is in a race against time to be fit for start of the new season.
The striker has been feeling pain in his leg, which ruled him out of training with the Royals squad on Monday, and he could miss the beginning of the new campaign.
Lita impressed for England in this summer's Under 21 European Championship and Reading manager Steve Coppell will be desperate to have the forward fit for the start of the Premier League.
The Royals begin their campaign against current champions Manchester United on Sunday and Reading have revealed the club's medical team will continue to monitor Lita's status ahead of kick-off.
Lita, 22, scored seven top-flight goals for Reading last season and helped to guide the Royals to their impressive 8th placed finish in their debut Premier League campaign.
