Dave Kitson has offered his gratitude to Reading for rewarding him with a new deal.
Dave Kitson has offered his gratitude to Reading for rewarding him with a new contract.
The striker has signed a deal to stay at The Madejski Stadium until 2010 after missing the first half of the season due to injury.
Though Kitson scored the club's first Premiership goal on the opening day of the season, he did not play again until January.
He is still returning to peak fitness and has yet to add to his league tally, although he notched twice in Reading's FA Cup run.
Kitson was delighted to sign the new deal and has thanked the club for standing by him while he experienced several injury troubles.
"Not playing for six months was hard enough to take anyway," Kitson told Sky Sports News.
"From the club's point of view it's very difficult. Do they go and buy a new striker or do they stick with it?
"To give me a new contract after playing only a handful of games is fantastic on the club's part and I'm very grateful for that - and three years as well.
"I just want to get out there and do the best I possibly can and start scoring all those goals again."
