Steve Coppell has indicated that Andre Bikey will become a permanent Reading signing in the summer.
The Lokomotiv Moscow defender is currently on a season-long loan at The Madejski Stadium but is keen to secure a long-term contract with the club.
The Russians are reportedly demanding £1.5million for Bikey's signature but Coppell has been impressed with the 22-year-old's recent displays and is hoping to keep him beyond the end of the season.
"He is still coming to terms with Premiership football but given his age and the quality of some of his performances he is getting there.
"With a lot of young players consistency is elusive and even within a game he can be inconsistent. He can do some superb things and then some naive ones.
"But as a raw material at 22 years of age he has a very bright future, with us I hope.
"I think we have probably made our decision but we are not going to say anything because hopefully he is still desperate to prove something."
Bikey, who says he is relishing every minute of life in the Premiership, expects to be told if he has a Reading future within the next couple of weeks.
"I have not spoken to the manager about my contract but somebody from the club has said that at the end of this month they will know if I am to stay or not," Bikey explained.
"I want to stay here but it is a decision for the gaffer.
"My dream was always to play in England and now I am here I still can't believe it."
