Reading striker Dave Kitson has declared himself delighted with the progress he has made since returning from a knee injury.

The talented target-man saw his debut Premiership campaign come to a disappointing halt when he endured ligament damage on the opening day of the season.

Kitson has only recently returned to Reading's first team ranks and having made three substitute appearances and two starts, he is confident that he is on the road to full recovery.

"I feel alright and training has helped in that respect, because obviously I haven't played that many matches," said Kitson.

"One of the most impressive things for me to get my head around was lasting half an hour against Villa, then the whole games against Spurs reserves and then Manchester United.

"If someone had said that to me last week I wouldn't have thought I could do it,especially being up front on my own on Saturday.

"It just goes to show it can be done and that has restored a lot of confidence in myself. I know that, if I'm called upon I can play and that's a nice feeling to have actually."
