Leroy Lita is hoping his second goal in the Premiership will help secure the striker a place in the Reading starting line-up.
The forward, who scored in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Boxing Day, has impressed in the Carling Cup but has yet to be given a run in the Premiership.
He has now begged manager Steve Coppell to give him a chance to shine and is desperate to prove himself at the highest level.
The 22-year-old told The Sun: "I've got three in the Carling Cup but you're judged on what you do in the Premiership.
"I was desperate to show what I could do and hope I have by scoring.
"I could understand the boss didn't want to change the side while we were doing well and winning matches.
"But we've had a couple of bad home defeats by Blackburn and Everton and I've taken my chance," he added.
