Kitson expects Royals return

Dave Kitson has rejected suggestions that he might miss the rest of the season.

Reading striker Dave Kitson has rejected suggestions that he might be ruled out for the rest of the season.

Reports have suggested Kitson may miss the rest of the campaign after suffering a knee injury in the Premiership opener against Middlesbrough in August.

Kitson is still a way off a return to training, but he insists he will be back playing sooner rather than later.

"I had my last injection on Friday. My knee looks a bit mutant but I'm doing a lot of weights and next week I'll do ball-work and running.

"That's the key week. If I can get through that I can up the ante and work towards something resembling normality.

"If it goes well it could be shorter than a month. If it doesn't then longer.

"I won't be out for the whole season. I don't know where those rumours are from but they're complete rubbish."
