Ulises de la Cruz, Andre Bikey and Peter Mate will all make their Reading debuts in Tuesday's Carling Cup clash against Darlington.
All three arrived at The Madejski Stadium late last month, with De La Cruz completing a free transfer from Aston Villa, and Mate and Bikey joining on loan.
However, they failed to break into the side as Reading made a bright start to their Premiership campaign.
Steve Coppell is now set to give the trio their chance to shine, as he makes wholesale changes for the visit of Darlington.
Winger Glen Little is expected to start for the first time since picking up an injury in April, while Stephen Hunt and Shane Long have also been pencilled in.
Utility men Brynjar Gunnarsson, John Oster and John Halls are also likely to feature from the outset.
And Coppell has challenged his fringe players to make the most of their opportunity.
"I need a squad of players who are capable of performing and all of them think they are capable of being first team players," he explained.
"This is a chance for them to prove they can perform well at a level.
"A number have not played at the stadium before in a competitive game so I am really interested to see how they are going to do.
"It's a first team game and given the patchwork quilt that is the nine-month season, this is my first team for this game."
