Reading have completed the loan signing of Lokomotiv Moscow defender Andre Bikey.
The 21-year-old Cameroon international impressed Royals boss Steve Coppell during a trial period over the summer, despite getting sent off against Orgryte IS in a friendly, and will now spend the coming season at The Madejski Stadium.
The arrival of Bikey further strengthens Coppell's backline after Friday's capture of Ulises De La Cruz, and Reading's manager is hoping the defender can impress in The Premiership when he returns from international duty next week.
"He did well in Sweden until he blotted his copybook by getting sent off in the last game, but we feel that happened because he was so determined to impress," Coppell told the club's official website.
"He's a Cameroon international with good experience so we hope he will take the opportunity and play a full role in our season."
The Royals have an option to buy Bikey next summer, and the player is relishing the opportunity to make a name for himself in England.
"I'm very happy, it was an easy decision to come to Reading," said Bikey.
I have played in Portugal, Spain and Russia but it's very important for me to come to England and see if I am good enough for The Premiership.
"I believe that I have the ability to be successful in England, where there are some very big players and I want to prove that.
"I spent time with Reading in Sweden and I like this team because the mentality is very strong.
"It is like a family, a very good atmosphere and I am looking forward to helping the team and reaching the top level."
