Marvin Elliott is not on the brink of a move to Reading, according to his advisor.
The Millwall star is being tracked by a host of Premiership and Championship clubs.
The versatile 21-year-old can play anywhere in defence or midfield and has even played in attack.
Elliott has been strongly linked with Premiership new-boys Reading, but his advisor Tony Finnigan has played down talk of a bid from the Berkshire outfit.
"We can clearly state that Marvin is not talking with Reading," Finnigan told skysports.com.
"I had a conversation with Steve Coppell, who I know as he is one of my former managers, and although he admitted liking him - he told me he would not be making a bid.
"As far as we know this situation has not changed.
"There is interest from several clubs and Marvin obviously wants to play at the highest level.
"However, he is a Millwall player and will continue to give his all for them - until they state otherwise."
