Leroy Lita says Reading are determined to confound their critics and retain their place in The Premiership.
The Royals swept to the Championship title last term but their chances of staying up have been written off by many.
Striker Lita is champing at the bit to play in The Premiership and is eager for Reading to prove their quality.
"Myself and the other lads all think the same - that to come and have just one season in this league will not be good enough," Lita told The Sunday Mirror. "It will be a failure.
"We're all young and hungry, we've all worked to get where we are and that experience means we don't think we've made it. We all want more.
"You want to be there for 10 years and to win something and then maybe you know you've achieved something. That's what I would call a successful career. Nothing else is good enough."
Steve Sidwell's future has been up for debate for much of the summer after he rejected the club's offer of a new contract, but he has vowed to give his all in the new campaign.
"I've got a year left on my contract so I will give my all for one year," said Sidwell.
