Coventry have insisted that star striker Gary McSheffrey will not be allowed to leave the club on the cheap.
The 23-year-old, who has risen through the Sky Blues' youth ranks, has bagged 15 goals already this season.
Now a number of clubs are said to be showing a keen interest in the forward - including Premiership new-boys Reading.
However, manager Micky Adams insists it would take a sizeable bid to land him.
"I know Steve Coppell very well and I know he won't be making his shopping list public," Adams said.
"I think Mr Madejski has already stated that he won't be throwing money at them and he would have to throw an awful lot of money at it to get Gary McSheffrey," he added.
"But I welcome other clubs being interested in my players because that shows we are doing something right.
"Gary had a fantastic opportunity last season to go and join any football club he wanted on a Bosman but he chose to stay.
"But we have got assets now and players that other teams would want and that is because we are doing well and making progress."
