Reading have confirmed they are in talks about bringing Tamworth defender Aaron Brown to the Berkshire club.

The 22-year-old impressed The Royals in a trial at the start of the current season, with the player having also had a run-out with Championship rivals Watford recently.

The Championship club are now aiming to land the former Studley player on loan - with a view to making the deal a permanent arrangement in the January transfer window.

"Nothing is confirmed at this stage but we will continue to talk to both Tamworth and the player," Reading's director of football Nicky Hammond told the club's official website.

One player that committed himself to Reading is former club trainee Simon Cox after the youngster penned his first professional contract on Friday.

The 18-year-old has signed a deal until the summer of 2007 with Steve Coppell's side.
