Wolves claim Royals scalp

Wolves picked up an impressive 4-1 victory over Reading.

Stuart Gray's chances of landing the Wolves manager's job on a permanent basis received a major boost with an impressive 4-1 victory over Reading.

Leon Clarke got a late brace to extinguish a spark for Reading ignited by Dean Morgan's goal.

Colin Cameron and Seyi Olofinjana had given the hosts a 2-0 lead, against a side that are not at their best away from home.

Steve Sidwell saw Wolves keeper Michael Oakes equal to two fine early chances, but it was Cameron that tilted the game in home side's favour with the opener.

The Scot collected a pass from Carl Cort, cut inside and placed the ball past Marcus Hahnemann into the back of the net.

Olofinjana then doubled the advantage before half time when he drifted past Ibrahim Sonko and finished with aplomb.

It took Reading just a minute of the second half to give themselves a lifeline, with Morgan racing clear and slotting home.

However, hopes of a comeback were ended when Clarke took advantage of poor communication between Sonko and Hahnemann to poke home and then show composure to add a fourth in the final minute.
