Hearts star Steven Pressley is doubtful with a virus and if he misses out it would have left Vogts short of numbers in defence and the inclusion of Caldwell and Murty will bolster his options.
Vogts has seen his plans for Saturday's game with Norway hit by withdrawals with Nigel Quashie and Neil McCann being forced out of the original squad.
Scotland are hopeful that Quashie may recover in time to be fit for next week's clash with Moldova.
