Derby County emerged victorious from the late goal show with a 2-1 win over Reading at Pride Park.

It took a while for things to get going, but once the goals came the flood gates did not shut.

Firstly former Watford and Sunderland striker Tommy Smith broke the deadlock after scoring 70 minutes in.

The points were effectively secure shortly after when Marcus Tudgay capitalised on slack defending to add a second.

There was still time for Nicky Shorey to pull one back in the dying moments, but it was too little, too late.
