READING moved into the top three in the Second Division as they beat Rotherham 2-0, whilst at the bottom, three of the four clubs were involved in scoreless draws.

James Harper got the opening goal on the hour, whilst Martin Butler (pictured) made the game safe ten minutes from time.

Second placed Rotherham could not compete with the home side's striking power especially when they were reduced to nine men.

Stewart Talbot received his marching orders in the 35th minute and Alan Lee following him in injury time.

John Beck started his second spell in charge at Cambridge United with a 2-0 win over Oldham.

The home side's stars were two debutants, Luke Guttridge who got off to a dream start with a goal in the second minute, whilst crafty midfielder Omar Riza also got his debut goal, 30 minutes later.

Millwall stretched their lead to seven points at the top, despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Peterborough United, who were also forced to play with nine men.

Both Jason Lee (34 mins) and Andy Clarke (79) were sent off for the visitors, after receiving two yellow cards, but the home side could not breach Peterborough's rearguard.

Bournemouth managed an easy 2-0 home win over Brentford, Steve Fletcher getting an early opener before Wade Elliott rammed a second home.

Swindon, Luton and Oxford all managed scoreless draws, with perhaps The Robins the most impressive as they travelled to Wigan and gained a point whilst their fellow relegation battlers got 0-0 results against the Bristol sides.

However, Swansea crashed 3-0 away to Bury, having had Jason Jones sent off in the 63rd minute, in an incident which saw Paul Reid get his second from the spot, Lee Connell finished the scoring in the 87th minute.
