Bolton skipper Jay Spearing could be joining Sky Bet Championship rivals Watford as part of a player-swap deal.

The former Liverpool trainee has fallen down the pecking order following current manager Neil Lennon's arrival in October and has not started a game since being hauled off at half-time in the loss to Norwich on Halloween night.

The 26-year-old signed a permanent deal with the club in August 2013 after a successful loan spell and was a pivotal figure under previous boss Dougie Freedman.

However, Lennon's team have fared just fine without Spearing, who may now be set for a move to the Hornets, with an unnamed player possibly coming in the other direction.

"There's a bit of interest in Jay Spearing from Watford," Lennon told a press conference on Thursday morning.

"He was down there yesterday. We had a player from Watford up here but that deal's far from completed at the minute."

Meanwhile, Lennon also confirmed another midfielder, Sierra Leone international Medo Kamara, is on the verge of leaving the Macron Stadium too.
